A month of @buckt

Posted on 06/06/201823/08/2020

Have you heard about Buckt yet?

If not, where have you been?

Buckt is the new monthly subscription pack for adults. Think of it as a set of surprise date nights for you and your other half. Or even you and a mate.

Each month a new box will land on your doorstep. Inside you will find a booklet with the activities of the month.

The month of May saw me and my husband enjoying our very first box of date nights and we were not disappointed.

Here is what we got up to…

We started off with a trip to Kadampa Meditation Centre in Birmingham City Centre where we met the most gentle, friendly and endearing Kadampa teacher, Gen Kelsang Leksang. It was here that we enjoyed a thirty minute meditation session which included some simple guided breathing exercises to calm and relax the mind, followed by some simple advice on how to live a happier, more relaxed and positive life, followed by a second guided meditation.

The session was so relaxed that I almost didn’t want it to end when it did and have said to my husband I could sit and listen to Gen Kelsang Leksang for hours. Such a beautiful lady and soul.

Next on our monthly date itinery a few days later, was Bank Restaurant in Brindley Place. A club individual card that entitled us to £20 each to spend on food and drinks. We had a lunch date and enjoyed two courses with drinks, spending £42 but only having to pay £2 as the rest was within the @Buckt pack allowance.

The food was delicious and the venue was high class with a great view across the canal to the Arena (previously NIA). The service was great although the timing in the kitchen could be better. Our lunch took 1 hour 20 minutes and we both ended up having to leave some of our dessert to get out of the restaurant in time.

A week later and we headed to The Mockingbird Cinema in Digbeth, for date night part three. Buckt gave us two free tickets to see a film of our choice. We looked at the dates and times and decided to go for The Avengers.

The cinema was small but quirky and had a nice feel about it. You could take your drinks in from the bar and there were a selection of snacks and drinks in a little kiosk outside of the screening that you could purchase.

I enjoyed the film and the venue and it was a great date three.

Wondering what we did for date night four?

It was my favourite date of the pack and saw us at Rage Room , Grange Live Gaming in Birmingham City Centre. As we had the duo Buckt pack (for two people), we were upgraded to the Deluxe Rage Room Package, giving us one computer monitor, three keyboards and ten glass bottles to smash up using a variety of baseball bats and an Indian club, whilst wearing a boiler suit and protective head/face gear and gloves.

So. Much. Fun.

This is done in the same place as the axe throwing, LARP, air softs and a zombie experience. So we had a nosey at the axe throwing and decided we would do that on a date night in the future. The staff were lovely too, especially Hannah and Dizzy.

Our fifth date night hasn’t been completed yet (we had a busy May) but it’s two music lessons each to learn an instrument. Although we are both opting for the singing lessons. So look forward to updating you on that date night. With pictures, not sound files, thankfully for you all.

So, you’re probably wondering how much all of this cost. Five activities for two people.

Bank £40 voucher

Rage Room £45 deluxe package

Meditation £8

Mockingbird Cinema £10

Two music lessons each (I’m unsure how much this would cost but a lot I imagine)

At least over £100 in total these trips would have cost, and yet, if you purchase Buckt, it would have only cost you £25.00. £12.50 a person.

Or, if you’d like to use my code SMALLHOUSEBIGTRIPS at the checkout, it would only be £12.50 for the two of you. £6.25 each. For ALL of those activities.

I’m unsure what you get in each pack but I’m assured that everyone gets Rage Room in the first pack (worth £45) so even if you just purchased the pack for that alone, you would save yourselves some money. I’m pretty sure that you would want to keep the subscription, there’s some great activities listed online. And the excitement of stepping out of your comfort zone and doing new and different things, decided by someone else is amazing.

It is a subscription service but you can opt out at any time. There’s no contract of minimum time you have to have the subscription for.

It would be an ideal Father’s Day present or birthday present.
